Progressive Chart

This chart helps to create a progressive or trend pattern for data spanning across multiple years. This chart helps in visualising the information in a ‘progressive’ pattern starting from the oldest data upto the most recent one.

Lets create a Progressive Chart to understand how it works : Follow the steps to Create a Presentation if you wish to create an exclusive preentation for the progressive chart or you can choose to add a Progressive chart in an existing Presentation in which case you merely need to add a new chart by selecting the ‘Resize Card’ or use the ‘Insert Below’ / ‘Insert Above’ options

Once you have selected the Datasheet, for the X-series, select a Date field, please note that the field should be of ‘DT’ data type to be able to create a Progressive chart, change the data type to a Date field incase it is of any other data type

In the example below, we have selected SalesDate for the X-series and Sum(SalesAmount) for the Y-series

Next Select the Function option for the x series and select ‘Progressive Dates’

The chart changes as below depending on the range of dates available in the data - the oldest data is summarised for the year and the most recent one falls into month and weeks and day based on the data in the dataset
